I kinda feel it won't make a difference unless they are on a PC with a keyboard and mouse. At the end of the day if you both are on a console and you have a controller and he has a keyboard and mouse it's just different hard ware inputting singals on the same hardware and operating system, so there should be no difference really other than comfort of the controls.

It wasnt Ill agree with what's been said that the keyboard controls aren't perfect but I would argue they are slightly supirior to using a controller (or at least more flexible) i very much like being able to move my camera and cursor seperatly. If everybody consents to using a controller, it should be fine. But Keyboards give the extra tactical edge that a controller can't match. If you're trying to play against people, you're giving yourself a handicap. I'm talking about randoms.

Within every Halo game, there have been many different control layouts to match each players style. Whilst Halo: Combat Evolved only had one set Xbox controller layout PC players were able to remap buttons to their needs. The multiple control schemes were introduced in Halo 3 with schemes such as Default, Southpaw, Left and Recon to name a few. Halo 3 had several different schemes and this was On Keyboard and Mouse you can make it anything you want. While gamepad players can choose from a selection of different control schemes.

Its really not optimized for mouse. Tho mouse is still a lot better than controller once u get used to it for ce.

I know mouse and keyboard will provide a higher ceiling but itll take awhile to get used to I've been doing pretty good on Team Hardcore in Halo Reach PC with a controller, so I don't think the control input really matters except for precision weapons. I tried out keyboard and mouse and got similar results as my controller gameplay.
